Ohio State University Owns Trademark To The Word 'The'

Ohio State University now owns a trademark on the word "the,“ the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved the application Wednesday.

The university said it allows Ohio State to control use of "the" on branded products associated with and sold through athletics and collegiate channels.

A school spokesperson said "the" has been a rallying cry in the Ohio State community for years.
