Family Opens Up As Hearing In Victim’s Murder Is Set To Begin

A pretrial hearing is set to begin Thursday for Carlotta Rich. Rich has been charged with first-degree murder after her boyfriend and father of six was found lying on the ground.

"We can't believe that happened," Nadia Brennan said.

For Marc Brennan's sister, Nadia, she never thought the woman her brother spent nearly two years with would even think of hurting him.

"She was my friend,” Brennan said. “She was so someone we involved in our holidays and family activities.”  

On September 23rd, 2020, Brennan was found in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings in Shawnee.

Police said surveillance footage shows that Rich hit him intentionally.

Authorities said Brennan was walking in front of the vehicle when the truck suddenly accelerated and ran him over.

Timestamps show nine minutes went by before Rich tried to help. You can hear Nadia in the background of the 911 calls, hysterical.

"’Why didn't you help my brother? I want to know what was said for those nine minutes,’” Brennan said.

Now, Brennan’s family and friends continue to honor his memory. They said the trial has been a long time coming.

"He would do anything for his kids and family," Brennan said. "He was a happy guy, and he just loved life. That's all."

The defense attorney filed a motion ahead of tomorrow's hearing to have Rich reevaluate her competence to stand trial.
