Victim Identified In NW OKC Homicide

Oklahoma City police released more information related to a homicide early Wednesday morning.

Authorities said they were called to an apartment complex near Northwest 30th Street and North Villa Avenue on a shooting investigation, but when they arrived, they didn't find anyone.

A local hospital later called police to inform them that a man who was dropped off by a private vehicle had died due to apparent gunshot wounds.

Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Dewon Thomas.

Upon further investigation, detectives determined that Thomas arrived at the apartment complex uninvited and armed with a weapon. An altercation then ensued between Thomas and another man, 22-year-old Ledarian Hicks, that resulted in Thomas suffering those gunshot wounds.

Officers said Hicks is not considered a suspect at this time. No arrests have been made.

OCPD said its investigation is ongoing.
