On Monday, the nation will celebrate the legacy of Civil Rights Leader, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

January 15th would have been his 93rd birthday.

If you are seeking work, Dianna Johnson, Executive Officer of the Oklahoma City Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Coalition, said that from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can go to Douglas High School for their job fair.

"This will be an opportunity and an avenue for them with this being a holiday, they can take this time and submit their resume and talk with some of the employers at this job fair."

There are all sorts of programs and presentations all day long until 2 p.m., when the parade starts.

See below for a list of events in the metro. All indoor events will follow CDC guidelines.

This is the 42nd year the coalition has been honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.

Last year, COVID-19 forced the event to go virtual. But this year, it's back in person and they are doing it big.

More than 125 entries, floats, classic cars and horses will be included. They have it all this year, and News 9 will be there too.

Organizers said this year the parade is being led by a diverse group of young people called "We Are The Dream," said Johnson

"That is who Dr. Martin Luther king represented. That is who Dr. King was. He represented not just us as a black race, but he represented all races, all gender, all people of any origin. Dr. King stood for all of us, not just one race."

The parade will start at 6th and Walker.

Volunteers are still needed for the parade and are asked to meet at 6th and Walker at 11 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to come out and take part.

An important note, The MLK Prayer Breakfast has been postponed to Juneteenth Monday, on June 20th, 2022.

The event will be at the same place and time, with a new date.

The event will be located at The Reed Center at The Sheraton Hotel, 5800 Will Rogers Rd. in Midwest City.
