At least six of the metro's largest school districts are taking that next step and canceling classes entirely Friday due to COVID and staffing shortages.

Edmond, Norman, Deer Creek and Stillwater will join Mid-Del and Yukon Public Schools by completely canceling school for Friday.

OKCPS, Western Heights, Putnam City and Mustang students are all learning online.

All these districts are citing severe staff shortages as the reason for the schedule changes.

District leaders said there are too many students and teachers getting sick, and not enough substitutes to cover their positions.

Most districts across the state plan to hopefully return to in-person learning starting next Tuesday, January 18th.
