The state's largest school district, and several other major metro schools are moving all students to distance learning because of COVID-19.

At OKCPS, Superintendent Sean McDaniel said they simply don't have enough staffing right now to keep schools open.

“We are doing everything we can to keep our doors open, but there comes a point in time where kids are coming to school and we can’t find adults to come in and become substitutes for us,” he said.

Starting Thursday morning, all OKC students will log into Canvas to complete assignments.

For elementary students, they'll have the chance to meet virtually with their teachers from 8:20 in the morning to 9.

High Schools and middle schools will be given specific office hours and targeted support groups to work more closely with their teachers

The district will be providing resources to help students who are struggling with their devices or WIFI, and they will continue to have curbside meal services.

Each district has a different plan, and that includes both Yukon and Mid-Del public schools, who are completely closing their classrooms for the remainder of the week.

Right now, OKCPS and most other districts are looking to bring students back for in-person learning starting next Tuesday January 18th.
