Instead of lethal injection, two Oklahoma death row inmates are requesting a firing squad
The decision from a district judge is expected by the end of this week.
A firing squad has never been used as a form of execution in Oklahoma, at least since statehood.
It hasn't been used anywhere in more than a decade.
The most recent time happened with a death row inmate in Utah back in 2010.
Oklahoma state law does allow for a firing squad if lethal injection isn't an option.
It's one of only four states to authorize the method.
The request comes after questions were raised about the state's lethal injection protocol.
Postelle and Grant requested an injunction to determine if the three drug injection is constitutional.
While there is a trial on the matter scheduled in February, the date is after both men are scheduled to die.
