Another step in restoring the Teepee Drive-In Theater is underway in Sapulpa!
12 1950s themed Spartan Trailers are currently being transformed into AirBnBs in hopes of bringing more people to town!
"We wanted to make it a little more unique than just a drive-in," said Sarah Lehew with Kante Group.
Let's take a trip back to 1950 but let's stay in Sapulpa- and do it in style!
"We just thought it would be a fun idea to have these restored and brought back to life," said Lehew.
That is the idea off Main Street. This is the first of what will hopefully be twelve, 1950's themed, fully renovated Spartan Trailers.
"The Spartans that we have so far- the oldest one is 1949 and the newest one is 1959," said Lehew.
Each one will be parked at Sapulpa's Teepee Drive-In Theater when it reopens next year, and people can rent them out through AirBnB.
"Most of these Spartans have large windows where they can just look right out and see the movie," said Lehew.
This is the first trailer out of the gate.
"This is where we learned what we wanted and how to do these. They did such a great job renovating this and making it just so cute," said Lehew.
The goal is to have 4 or 5 of these finished by Spring of 2022 the rest of them will slowly roll out after that."
The team at Action Restoration and Construction is doing the renovation work.
"We are always up for a challenge," said Daniel Briggs with Action Restoration and Construction.
"That has been probably the most rewarding part is seeing how the community is so excited for the opening of the Teepee Drive-In," said Lehew.
In 2022- you will be able to stop in Sapulpa and take a step back in time for the night then continue your journey along Route 66.
