The Oklahoma Board of Regents is set to meet Thursday. They are expected to vote on a $16 million budget for OU athletics.

A $325,000 check will be going to Bob Stoops as he steps in as the interim head football coach for the bowl game.

This compensation fee will be in addition to Stoops’ current salary as special assistant to athletic director Joe Castiglione.

"The type of coach we are looking for is the type of coach like Coach Stoops, like Lincoln Riley. The type of coaches we hire in our program," said Joe Castiglione, OU's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Programs.

News 9’s Dean Blevins says many predict it is Brent Venables, but OU could be looking into possibility Cincinnati's Luke Fickell, Perhaps Iowa State's Matt Campbell, or even Georgia's up and coming to Defensive Coordinator Dan Lanning.

Dean says do not be on the lookout for Dabo Sweeny leaving Clemson.

No word yet on how soon OU is expecting to have a decision on a new head coach.

Thursday's regent's meeting starts at 11 a.m.
