Firefighters say that cooking fires are three times more likely on Thanksgiving than any other day, so be sure to know what to do in case you need to put out a fire.
Firefighters say the most dangerous fires may come from deep fryers.
"If you're using a turkey fryer, make sure to use it outside of the home. That means not in your garage, not on the porch, move it away from the home and also make sure you start with a thoroughly thawed turkey and never overfill or overheat the oil in that fire," said Nikki Fleming with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Firefighters say you should never throw water on those types of flames, instead place another pan on top to extinguish the fire.
