A couple of months ago, Mr. Bao was about to close his bakery. He was working 20-hour days and was working alone.

But now, through the power of social media, his business is thriving more than ever.

Quoc Bao Bakery on Classen Blvd would not be here today if it weren’t for the community rallying behind Mr. Bao.

Fans, who saw his struggle and resonated with his story, donated an air conditioner, a new fridge, chairs, bakery supplies, and so much more.

After hiring a string of unreliable workers and even one who stole his money, he was finally able to hire two new workers through Facebook.

“I had just moved here, and I was looking for a job,” said Spencer Wind, his longest employee of a month. “He told me to come the next day, and I’ve been here ever since.”

Now, his struggle is being able to find the time to serve all the new customers the bakery is getting.

“It’s just been a blast working here, we never know what’s going to happen,” Wind said. “We see people coming from Chicago and San Francisco. We get a lot of people.”

Mr. Bao wants to pay it forward by using his platform and resources to support other struggling businesses.

He currently works with Jennifer Bui from Okie Dokie Foodie to visit and help small businesses.

They have already donated to many businesses in the Oklahoma City metro.

“Customers support me, and I just want to say thank you to everybody,” Mr. Bao said.
