Caramel Apple Cake

  1. 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  2. 2 cups granulated sugar
  3. 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  6. 2 teaspoon vanilla
  7. 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  8. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  9. 1 teaspoon salt
  10. 1 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  11. 1 cup Kraft caramel baking bits
  12. 3 cups whipped cream or Cool Whip


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray a 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Cut the apples into slices or chucks.
  4. No need to be precise.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter and eggs.
  6. Stir in the cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and flour.
  7. Add the apples, 1 cup pecans, and caramel baking bits.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes or until cooked through.
  9. Cool cake before topping with whipped cream and sprinkle with ½ cup pecans.

**Omit the whipped cream topping and serve cake warm with coffee or tea!
