A Green Country non-profit is raising awareness this week about family homelessness.

It’s part of National Family Promise Week 2021.

Family Promise of Tulsa County said this week is about engaging the community to help end homelessness one family at a time.

Family Promise said the pandemic has made it difficult for many families financially, which organizers say creates a greater risk of homelessness.

National Promise Week is dedicated to educating the community about the resources available for those in need.

Family Promise of Tulsa County works to get families back on their feet and has done so with 118 families since starting three years ago.

The group helps provide shelter, transportation, food, housing and case management.

Tina Massey is the Executive Director of Family Promise of Tulsa County. She said Family Promise does not turn families away – if it doesn't have space, she said the group will connect families with another organization that does.

“It doesn’t matter what agency is helping – each one of the people are not just numbers, they’re not data, they represent an individual’s life that has an opportunity to change,” said Massey.

The non-profit will use social media this week to inform the public about the options available to families facing homelessness.
