SPENCER, Oklahoma -

A Spencer woman is fighting for her life in ICU after being shot Wednesday at her home.

Just before 6 a.m., Oklahoma County deputies were dispatched to a home near NE 36th and Douglas after reports of a shooting.

When deputies arrived, Jessica Houchins, 33, was found shot in the head.

Aaron Houchins, 27, was arrested and charged with one count of shooting with intent to kill.

The victim and suspect are married.

“Everything is rough, (we are) still trying to process everything (and are) taking it day by day, hour by hour at this point,” said Dusty Stevens, Jessica’s brother.

Jessica Houchins’ family said the couple’s roommate was home at the time of the shooting and called 911.

Both the couple’s roommate and Aaron Houchins were taken into custody for questioning.

“Aaron made a comment, and he took off out the front door down the street,” said Stevens. “That’s when the roommate, who called 911, got ahold of the sheriff’s department for dispatch.”

Jessica Houchin, family said, just celebrated her 33rd birthday in September. They hope for many more to come.

“Something like that is uncalled for,” said Stevens. “Nothing I wouldn’t do now, but pray and hope that she comes out of the hospital. She won’t be the same, but hopefully she comes out.”

The family has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for Jessica’s medical bills.

On Nov. 13, 405 Street Elite will be holding a car show in Jessica’s honor. The car show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7525 SE 15th Street.

All proceeds will go towards helping pay Jessica’s medical bills.

Registration for the event is $25.

Designer Tattoo in OKC will also hold a raffle in Jessica’s honor. Click here for details.
