Oklahoma City police need the public’s help in identifying a man who was caught on camera threatening a couple with a shotgun and a machete. The entire ordeal was caught on the victim’s home security camera.
The street was quiet on Tuesday but residents near SW 38th and McKinley Avenue said they have grown irritated with some of their neighbors.
In September, it reached a boiling point for one couple. The neighbors who called police said they have had ongoing issues with the people next door.
“They were having a lot of traffic in and out of the house,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “They were doing some burnouts, some traffic violations in front of the house.”
The confrontation played out in the victim’s and neighbor’s front yards. In the video, the man wearing a white shirt was confronted to stop the burnouts. A camera caught the suspect’s response.
“You can see a suspect grab what appears to be gun wrapped in a T-shirt actually point it at the husband,” said Quirk.
Witnesses said the man did not fire any shots but continued to threaten the neighbor, who also armed himself with a knife and crowbar. Another man got involved, and police said at some point, gave the suspect another weapon.
“The suspect who had the gun at some point exchanges the gun for a machete and chases our victim with a machete,” said Quirk. “We’re looking to ID that person.”
The suspect eventually took off on a dirt bike, but not before allegedly telling the couple, “You’ll be out of the neighborhood by tonight."
The only identifying mark the victims could remember was a clover tattoo on the suspect's neck. Investigators need the public's help to catch him.
“Anyone with any information we want to hear from you,” said Quirk.
A cash reward is available if a citizen can help investigators identify the man with the gun. People can give tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
