Oklahoma City police arrested two people on Friday in connection with a crime spree on metro streets.

The spree ended in a nearly three-hour standoff at the Oak Tree Inn near Interstate 40 and South Meridian Avenue.

Police took Cameron Watkins, 28, and Shaniya Alexander, 24, into custody at the southwest Oklahoma City motel.

Onlookers watched the dramatic scene unfold at the motel.

Police had their guns drawn, waiting for Watkins and Alexander to come out of a room on the motel’s second floor.

Investigators learned Watkins was armed and wanted for a violent kidnapping and carjacking the day before.

The investigation started on Thursday when the victim called police from a gas station near SW 29th and Independence Avenue.

“She was giving a couple of friends a ride to a couple spots in the city when she pulled into a motel on South Meridian,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

The woman told police a man she recognized and knew only as "KO" ran up to the car and hit the window with a gun.

“He ordered two people out,” said Knight. “Left the female in the car, held her against her will inside the vehicle.”

Watkins forced his way into the car and demanded the woman to drive. She claimed Watkins started making violent and sexual comments to her.

According to the police report, Watkins told the woman he was going to rent her out and make money with her.

“At some point she was able to escape. (And) Called for police,” Knight said.

Police said Watkins ditched the car. The vehicle was eventually found because the victim left her phone in the car and gave officers the GPS location.

Police caught up with Watkins who went back to the motel and barricaded himself, along with Alexander inside a room. After a three-hour standoff, the two surrendered.

“The suspects are in custody, and nobody got hurt,” said Knight.

Police said Alexander was not involved in the carjacking but was illegally possessing a firearm and damaged the motel room.
