Man Hospitalized After Shooting At Del City Apartment Complex

A Del City man was rushed to the hospital after a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

It happened at an apartment complex on SE 44th Street in between Bryant Avenue and Sunnylane Road.

One woman told News 9 she heard a single gunshot and when she looked outside she saw a man laying on the ground. She went over and held his hand until police got to the scene.

Officers arrived before 1 p.m. Wednesday. They said there was some type of an altercation right outside one of the apartment buildings, which led to one person getting shot in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital, but his condition is not known. 

Investigators were on scene for several hours trying to piece together what exactly happened.

Police said they detained and questioned several people, but so far, no arrests have been made.

Several people at the complex said the man was a resident and they couldn’t believe something like this could happen so close to home.
