An Oklahoma City police officer was in a pursuit Tuesday morning when a collision occurred between the officer’s patrol car and an EMSA ambulance.
The crash happened around 12:30 am near Interstate 44 and Northwest 10th Street. The patrol car caught fire after the crash.
“Our officer actually spun out and came to rest in a grassy area just south of the curb line, said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, spokesman for the Oklahoma City Police Department. “The vehicle actually became engulfed in flames.”
Luckily, the officer was able to escape.
“Our officer was able to get out of the vehicle before that happened,” Quirk said. “Fortunately, there were no patients in the EMSA vehicle at time of the collision.”
The police officer suffered only minor injuries and the EMSA driver was not injured in the crash.
