One person is dead and another in the hospital after a shooting at an apartment complex in southwest Oklahoma City. Now, police are on the hunt for the suspect.
"Anything can happen at any time of the day, but especially at night," said Chelsae Harlon, a neighbor. "It's scary."
Officers were called about 10:30 p.m. Monday to an apartment complex near SW 60th and Douglas Avenue. Once on scene, they found two people had been shot.
"Through the investigation, it was learned that an unknown person or unknown suspect arrived at some point," said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, with Oklahoma City police. "A verbal altercation ensued between one of the victims and the unknown suspect."
At some point during the argument, the person opened fire and hit both victims with gunfire. They were both taken to a local hospital.
Police said the man passed away shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday and the woman had non-life-threatening injuries.
"When it's involving someone's life, when somebody took somebody else's life away, it's just like, who's next?" said Harlon.
Harlon has lived here for almost two years now and says this isn't the first time she's seen crime in this neighborhood. She has two young children and says it's scary knowing something like this could happen so close to home.
"Especially when it's right next to you, it's just you don't what to do," said Harlon. "All you can do is think to protect yourself and your kids from stuff like this."
The two victims have not been identified. As of Tuesday evening, no arrests have been made and police did not release a suspect information.
