Tulsa Megacenter Sees 10,000 People In First Month

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety opened the Tulsa Megacenter location a month ago to relieve some of the stress the DMV’s have been seeing during the pandemic.

OKDPS’ Sarah Stewart says about 10,000 people have come through the Tulsa Megacenter located inside the Kensington Business Center in the first month of it being open to renew a license, get a Real ID, or utilize another service.

According to Stewart, the longest in and out time they have been seeing is about 45 minutes total, compared to the several hours people were waiting at DMV locations earlier in the year. Some services must still be done at a DMV, such as a driving test or anything relating to a suspended license.

“We do still have heavy traffic for those things but this has definitely helped out for more run-of-the-mill stuff the renewals replacements of drivers licenses getting that RealId," said Stewart.

Stewart said the Megacenter has been a great solution to the backup problem earlier this year.

“People have been really happy with the Megacenter,” Stewart said. “Things have been going really well, we are pleased with it, also we didn’t like not being able to get in people we needed to serve and this is a win-win all the way around.”

The Megacenter is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will stay operating through at least January 7th. No appointment is needed, all services are walk-in.
