OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oral specialists in Oklahoma City want to help give free treatment to those who desperately need oral care.

The Second Chance program, now in its fifth year, is giving Oklahomans an opportunity to apply to receive a free $50,000 smile makeover.

“In Oklahoma as a whole, you’re going to see a wide variety of dental problems,” Dr. Robert Bryan, DDS said. “Many times, people just go too long before each visit to the dentist and things could be occurring that they’re unaware.”

Some of those issues are cavities or mild to severe cases of periodontal disease.

That's why one periodontist and two oral surgeons from Oral Specialists of Oklahoma want to give back.

To apply for second chance, you must give detailed information on your financial needs and oral problems.

While the oral specialists will only pick one person to receive the treatment, they said they’ve also helped many others who needed it.

“Everyone could be the person, and anyone could be the recipient,” Bryan said. “But even if not, we just have a lot of resources available at our fingertips to point people in the right direction.

2019’s recipient Shannon Warrington lost all her teeth after struggling her whole life with teeth breakage and no insurance to afford dental care.

She was able to get a new smile through dental implants.

Doctors said this procedure has transformed many lives in ways other than just their teeth.

“Many patients are brought to tears,” Dr. Jerem Goodson, DDS said. “It changes how they look, how they feel when they smile.”

The application period runs through Sept. 23. Click here to apply.
