1 Dead After NW OKC Altercation, Police Say

One person died after being cut with a knife Tuesday afternoon in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.

One person died after being cut with a knife Tuesday afternoon in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.

The incident was reported shortly after 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of NW 36th Street near May Avenue.

When officers arrived, they were told the victim had been taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle.

The victim, 22-year-old Cameron Smiley, died at the hospital, police said.

Investigators said Smiley was involved in a physical altercation with his mother, 38-year-old Latameryn King.

During the fight, Smiley was "inadvertently cut with a knife" and later died from his injuries, police said.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The Oklahoma County district attorney's office will determine what, if any, criminal charges are appropriate for this case.
