Oklahoma City police released new details on Monday on a brutal double murder from the weekend.
Officers discovered a man and woman stabbed to death inside their northwest Oklahoma City home.
Police identified the woman as 59-year-old Kim Nguyen. Officials will release the man’s name once they get confirmation from the state medical examiner's office.
Police said a person was checking on the couple Saturday morning and made the gruesome discovery. The victims lived together in a home near NW 36th and May Avenue.
“When officers arrived, they found two people who appeared to have been stabbed to death,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “They were found inside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene.”
Knight said the couple was stabbed multiple times and the man’s body was found in the bathroom. Police think the victims were violently attacked sometime between late Friday night and 10 a.m. Saturday.
“This was very shocking. I didn’t hear a thing,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.
Neighbors grew concerned when they saw squad cars lining the street and learned Nguyen and the man were brutally killed.
“I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe it really,” said neighbor. “Nothing like that has happened in this neighborhood for the 40 some years I’ve been here, and it saddens me.”
She said the couple lived in the home for less than two years and were quiet. She is not sure who would want to take their lives in such a violent way.
“Even though I didn’t know them, it’s sad,” said neighbor.
Police have not made an arrest but expect to release more information in the coming days.
