The Oklahoma City-County Health Department is giving out vaccine shots for eligible people. Oklahomans can get their first, second or third vaccine dose.
OCCHD has set up a POD for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Oklahoma City Zoo
"90% of those hospitalized are unvaccinated, especially in Oklahoma County. Our hospitals' beds are filling. We need people to get vaccinated," said Molly Fleming with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department.
The county health department is excited to see the the rising vaccine demand.
Last week, OCCHD said they saw the highest vaccination numbers since May, but the fight to get those vaccinated is not over.
Right now, anyone 12 and older can get the vaccine at the zoo.
Once you get the shot, you will be given free admission to the zoo as an incentive.
But health officials want everyone to know you must legally attest that you qualify if you want a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"It's not the same as comorbidities. It is for those immunocompromised. You have to have something really invasive happen to you like an organ transplant or a cancer survivor," said Fleming.
If you're already vaccinated, the zoo will still honor the deal if you present your vaccine card at the admissions' counter and gain free admission from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.
