The Oklahoma City police are investigating the city's sixth homicide in six days.
Homicide investigators were called Friday morning after a man’s body was found in the backyard of home on East Madison Street near Prospect Avenue.
Police have since identified the victim as 30-year-old Parnell Reynolds, but have not released how he died.
“We had a few calls on this,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “I believe a landlord and some other individuals called 911.”
What started as a disturbance for police quickly turned into a suspicious death. Bob Mills SkyNews 9 flew over the scene where investigators were piecing together what happened. Police said there was some initial confusion on how Reynolds died.
“There was some initial reporting of some animals being involved they were unsure if it was an animal attack,” said Quirk. “So, they’re still sorting this out. I think the animals were just on scene when they arrived.”
Investigators now know animals were not involved, but said Reynolds’ injuries were "consistent with homicide."
“This is a bad day,” said Charles Hayes, a neighbor.
Hayes saw police on the street and said he went by to check on elderly neighbors. Hayes and other residents said the house where the body was found is known to have frequent guests.
“There seems to be a lot of people at that house,” said Hayes.
Police said several people were taken to police headquarters for questioning and they may have the answers investigators need to make an arrest.
“We will know more as the investigation presses forward,” said Quirk.
Police said it was not clear when Reynolds died. No one has been taken into custody.
