A dispute turned deadly at a southwest Oklahoma City home on Tuesday, according to the victim’s family. Relatives said their loved was murdered by another member of a family.

Oklahoma City police confirmed one person died from a gunshot wound at a home near Southwest 30th and Barnes Avenue. The sisters found out the victim was their brother 23-year-old Javier Sarabie.

“Going to the scene and hearing it was him that got shot, it hurt me bad,” said Jennifer Sarabie, victim’s sister.

Their brother lived with their uncle Mario Sarabie, but according to relatives their relationship was rocky.

The victim's older sister heard from a witness the uncle was drinking heavy before the shooting and thought his nephew was hitting on his girlfriend.

“I don’t understand how you can just go in a house and just shoot somebody down because your thoughts are getting to you,” said Leticia Resendiz, victim’s sister.

The only witness to the shooting was detained by police at the scene but released after questioning. Police have not arrested anyone and have not named a suspect.

The family believes their uncle pulled the trigger and has fled the state.

“What we have heard is he has left the state,” said Resendiz. “And he is in Dallas trying to live with his other niece for a home.”

Resendiz said all of this comes six weeks after they lost their mother. They are not sure how they will pay for another funeral, this time unexpected.

“Him taking my brother’s life, it hurt, because we get to take him to see my mother,” said Sarabie. “But we’re taking him to bury next to my mom. That’s gonna hurt us.”

Tips on Sarabie’s whereabouts can be left for homicide investigators by calling 405-297-1200.

The victim’s family has also set up a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.
