Most school districts start school next week, and the mad dash for last minute school supplies has started. If you are one of those shoppers, there is help.
Joe Cooper car dealership on SW 59th and Western Ave. has supplies for students as well as teachers this evening.
“We’ll have 350 backpacks full of school supplies, for elementary kids as well as middle school kids. I have teacher care packages with the most basic items that any teacher will need,” said Alma Anguiano, with the dealership.
They’ll also have free pizza, snacks, and raffle prizes.
First Christian Church on 2nd Street in Edmond will give away backpacks, school supplies and haircuts. On Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Twice The Cuts barbershop, will have free haircuts, backpacks, games and food at Star Spencer High School.
The Midwest City Police Department will have their back-to-school bash on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Midwest City YMCA. They’ll have school supplies, hot dogs, and a moon bounce
For over 20 years Wildwood Christian Church on North Kelley Ave. has given away school supplies. This year they’re giving away, school uniforms, haircuts, and doing COVID-19 vaccinations.
“It makes me feel like we are doing our part. I think all of us have something to do for the kingdom, all of us have responsibility. We can’t be a church in a community and not care for our community,” said Pastor DeWayne E. Rodgers.
Events at Wildwood Christian Church will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
