Lawmakers across the state are working to address staffing issues at prisons across Oklahoma.

State Representative Justin Humphrey has been studying low staff numbers and the role it plays in riots and violence within state prisons.

Representative Humphrey says he plans to hold an interim study on his findings this fall.

According to the Journal Record, the Department of Corrections has not released how many officers are currently working.

As of June 2021, there were 314 vacant positions.
