The Oklahoma Republican Party compared the persecution of the Holocaust to that of private employers' COVID shot mandates in a recent social media post.

The Facebook post with anti-Semitic connotation by the Oklahoma Republican Party has some Oklahomans outraged.

“To compare actions taken by Nazi Germany to a public health discussion is ill informed and inappropriate,” said Roberta Clark, the Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City.

It insinuates unvaccinated people are being targeted like Jewish people during the holocaust. The largest recorded genocide in the 20th century.

“During the Holocaust Jews were required to wear a yellow star of David on their clothing to be targeted for persecution and death,” said the Executive Director.

She said everyone is entitled to freedom of speech but there are consequences.

“To use that, specifically the yellow, and to use it to express a point that has nothing to do with the Holocaust is incredibly hurtful,” said Clark.

She hopes the Oklahoma GOP will take it down and apologize.

“I hope it was done out of ignorance and not intention. I hope that whoever posted it will have the humility and the respect of other people to apologize for their mistake,” she said.

One of the comments under the post reads “you should be ashamed.”

Another person said, “as a Jew I’m disappointed…as a person I am disgusted by this.”

“We all should stand up and speak out against hateful words, actions, symbols that are directed towards anyone,” she said.

News 9 reached out to the Oklahoma Republican Party multiple times and have not heard back.
