A multi-state manhunt ends after a carjacking and shooting suspect was caught in Dallas, Texas.

Lee King is accused of stealing a car and shooting a woman in Oklahoma City, and then driving to Sequoyah County and shooting Derek Riggs and Jake Myers, who helped him get gas for his car.

Derek Riggs' mom, Gaye Haddick says her son is not out of the woods just yet, but the doctors say he will be okay. She says Jake Myers has a long road ahead too, but he is being released from the hospital. She says she is thankful the two are alive.

Gaye Haddick says she got a phone call Saturday night that is every parent's worst nightmare. A woman was on the phone telling her something had happened to her 39-year-old son Derek Riggs, and Gaye says it felt like her heart stopped.

The woman was able to put the phone to Derek's ear.

"I said Derek? and all the breath that he had he said mom, we've been shot, and that part I'll never forget," Gaye said.

Derek and Jake Myers had driven Lee King to a gas station on I-40 near Vian after his car ran out of gas.

After they drove him back to his car, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says he shot them.

"He shot them and left them for dead, Derek was on the side of the highway, and jake managed to get down in a ditch and hide," she said.

Antlers Police had spotted Lee King on Sunday, but after a chase, he ran into the woods and got away. After days of searching, he was taken into custody Thursday around 4 p.m. in Dallas.

"I can't imagine how anybody could be so horrifically mean, to do something like that, I can't understand it, I can't begin to understand it," she said.

Haddick says Jake and Derek are amazing guys who would do anything for anyone, that's why they were helping Lee King in the first place. She says she knew they had a lot of friends, but with how so many people have been supporting them, it's been incredible to see how loved the two guys are.

"I know both of their lives are going to be changed from now on, it's kinda hard to think about, but i think when they come through this, they will be changed for the better," she said.

King was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals.
