Oklahoma City police identified the victim and suspect involved in a fatal stabbing Wednesday morning.

The stabbing happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the City of Hope Mission in northwest Oklahoma City.

Authorities said Eric Rupe, the 65-year-old director of the mission, was stabbed by 38-year-old Jaython Betterton. Betterton is a resident at the mission.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned an altercation took place between Rupe and Betterton. During the altercation, Betterton produced a knife and stabbed Rupe.

Police said Betterton remained at the scene of the stabbing. He was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a first-degree murder complaint.

This is a developing story.
