District Attorney David Prater cleared two officers who discharged their weapons during a hostage situation at the Oklahoma County jail and one officer involved in a shootout with a suspect in northeast Oklahoma City.

The hostage situation happened on March 27. A jail employee was held at knifepoint by an inmate. Two officers fired their weapons at the suspect to save the jail employee. The inmate was fatally shot.

Five inmates accused of being involved in the hostage situation were charged.

The other instance happened on May 1. An officer was driving on Martin Luther King Avenue near NE 50th when his vehicle was rammed by a suspect, police said. The suspect and the officer exchanged gunfire. The suspect was hospitalized at the time.
