Many different industries will be on display at a job fair organized by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission inside the River Spirit Expo Center at the fairgrounds near 21st and Yale.

Organizers said the fair comes at a time when many employers are looking to fill empty spots.

OESC Director Shelley Zumwalt said the career fair is also timely since unemployment benefits are set to expire this weekend. She said there will be opportunities for people with a wide variety of education, from a GED to those with a Master's Degree.

Some of the companies taking part include Amazon, Tyson, the United States Postal Service, and the Tulsa Federal Credit Union. Zumwalt said nearly 200,000 Oklahomans are workforce eligible and currently out of a job, but the market is to their advantage since so many companies are hiring.

“I think that as we get further away from the pandemic we’ll see those positions start to fill up,” said Zumwalt. “I would encourage anyone who is looking to find a new job or to find a position in a different field that now really is a great time and there’s a lot of opportunities.”

Doors for the event open at 8:30 a.m. for veterans and 9 a.m. for everyone else. The fair wraps up at 4 p.m.

An in-person event is also planned for Friday in Oklahoma City. For more on that and a virtual fair option, CLICK HERE
