An Oklahoma City Lyft driver shot six times by a rider in September is still struggling just to get by.

Two people, 20-year-old Adreona Flores and 21-year-old Jesse Tyler Moore, were charged in the armed robbery and shooting. They pleaded guilty on Friday.

Tommy Cross’s life will never be the same after the late night Lyft ride.

“When I got to the courts, one got out, Jesse, and said, ‘Give me all your stuff.’ And I said, ‘Screw you,’ and I took off and they just started shooting,” Cross said.

Cross is now permanently disabled after he was shot and left for dead. His family has not recovered financially.

Friday’s guilty pleas are not enough to serve justice. Cross can count the bullet holes.

“They blowed (sic) my arm completely off,” Cross said. “They had to reattach the shoulder. My mouth, shot me here went right past here, blew my teeth out.”

He hasn’t been able to count on much financial support. The Crosses’ car was totaled in the shooting.

“We weren’t aware of gig insurance, as Lyft drivers. delivering food,” Tommy’s spouse, Sheryl, said. “I didn’t know we had to have gig insurance. We had full coverage which covered nothing.”

The crime victim’s fund reimburses his medical bills when Tommy is able to make it to an appointment.

“He can’t get to any medical, he needs dental work, he needs speech therapy,” Sheryl Cross said. “He definitely needs work on his hand. He’s got a nervous condition. He falls, it’s not good.”

Moore will spend 13.5 years in jail plus 10 suspended for robbery with a firearm.

Flores took a blind plea for shooting Cross. She faces up to 25 years in jail. Flores will be sentenced in August.

“I don’t feel good at all about it,” Tommy Cross said. “I mean, 15 years in, 10 out, and she may only get 25. It’s ridiculous. They ruined my life. They left me for dead. She could of (sic) called for help, but she didn’t. She left me for dead.”

He was left for dead and is now trying to get back to the normalcy of life.

“I just wish that I could get back to life, just a little bit like it was,” Tommy Cross said. “Even just a little bit like it was.”

The Crosses are seeking help to get back on their feet. If you’d like to donate to them, click here.
