A team of archaeologists is expanding its search in week three of the mass grave investigation at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Thursday, archaeologists continued working on the original trench they first discovered last October, but they're also going further to the north of that trench.

The team said so far, they have exhumed remains from 14 individuals, to later be processed in the onsite forensic lab. It's unclear how many sets of remains scientists may be done studying, if any.

State Archaeologist Dr. Kary Stacklebeck explained why the team continued digging to the north and parallel to that original trench found in October.

“We believe that there is an additional, there might be additional individuals in that northern area. So we have also begun that process as well,” Stacklebeck said.

Thursday, we got a look inside the forensic lab. Click here for the inside look.
