A Broken Arrow couple originally accused of murdering their grandson wants to clear their names after their charges were dropped.

They said even though the charges were dropped after additional evidence came to light and testimony from child abuse experts, they've still been through hell and back.

Bill and Lisa Woolley said they lost their jobs, their friends, all their money, but worst of all, they lost custody of their other grandson. He is still in state custody and they want him back.

Little Elijah came into grandparents Bill and Lisa Woolley’s lives when he was just a few weeks old, when Elijah's mother was going through a tough time.

The Woolley's daughter, Glory, said her nephew Elijah was the sweetest child.

"He was so mischievous and curious," Glory said. "He had so much personality, even at such a young age."

Bill and Lisa said they loved Elijah deeply and he meant everything to them.

In 2018, Lisa found Elijah dead in his crib at 14 months old.

"He was stone cold and rigid," Lisa said.

The Woolleys said from the start, investigators believed the couple killed Elijah, going off a nurse interview and medical examiner's report.

"Your whole life can be destroyed because of something somebody says," Lisa said.

Bill and Lisa were fired from their jobs and they spent time in jail. They said they received death threats and lost more than half a million dollars from legal fees.

But the worst part for them was losing their other grandson, who was put into DHS custody at five years old, after investigators accused the Woolleys of also sexually assaulting him.

He's still in foster care and will turn nine this year.

"Basically, kidnapped out of our family over the last three years," Bill said.

In March, every single charge against the Woolleys was dropped by the district attorney, after top child death experts agreed there was no evidence of sexual abuse or murder.

Glory said after living through this nightmare, she urges people to not judge those who are accused of crimes, because everyone should be innocent before proven guilty.

"Don't have blind trust in the system, it's a broken system," Glory said.

District Attorney Jack Thorp said they dismissed the case after the additional evidence from the child abuse expert.

As for why Elijah died, the Woolleys think it might be walking pneumonia or SIDS, but they still don't know for sure.

Now, they're focused on getting their other grandson out of foster care and back with his family.
