UPDATE (8:41 a.m. June 11, 2021): Oklahoma City police records confirmed Friday that two people were detained in connection to a homicide late Sunday night.

Austin Bishop, 29, and Alyssa Ledford, 21, were taken into custody by OCPD.

Below is the original story.

Oklahoma City police received a call to check welfare in the 1300 block of west Reno Avenue just after 9 p.m. on Sunday.

“A welfare check is just that in itself,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “It’s where officers go to check on someone’s wellbeing.”

When officers arrived, they found a man who was critically injured.

“When they arrived, they located an adult male that suffered injuries that are consistent with homicide,” said Quirk. “This male was taken to a local area hospital where he died of his injuries.”

Right now, the victim’s name has not been released due to police working to notify next of kin of the deceased male.

Officials have said details in the case are vague but if you have any information that could help them, you’re asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200.
