Tulsa Company Donates Truck To Freedom Hill Volunteer Fire Department

A Tulsa company donated a new truck to help the Freedom Hill Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department said the donation comes at a time when it’s needed the most.

Firefighters said since they don't have many resources, this new truck is going to go a long way in helping them save lives. 

In March, one of their trucks got stuck while fighting a fire in Mannford. Before they could get the vehicle moved, it caught fire and was destroyed.

Firefighter Timothy Smythe said much like other volunteer-based departments, they didn't have the resources to immediately replace the truck.

That's where Explorer Pipeline came in. The company said they donated one of their company trucks to Freedom Hill Fire. 

"For a big company like that to be able to look at a little department and realize the need of needing that vehicle - there's just not words to really describe," Smythe said. 

Dennis Roling with Explorer Pipeline said they remembered how these volunteer firefighters helped battle the 2012 Creek County Wildfires, so they wanted to do something to give back.

"Our pipeline doesn't even go through that area," Roling said. "It supports people and the community and the people and the volunteers that battle these terrible fires."
