Del City police released 911 calls that came in last Friday following a deadly shooting.
Investigators are looking for multiple people in connection to a drive-by shooting that injured two people and killed 18-year-old Gary Hooks, Jr. Police have not confirmed the motive but have ruled out possible gang-related activity.
Friday afternoon gunshots were heard in a neighborhood near Southeast 15th and Bryant Avenue.
Caller: “A bunch of gunshots!”
911 Dispatcher: “OK, I’ll get someone out there as soon as I can.”
Caller: “OK, thank you.”
911 Dispatcher: “Respond to 852 Briar Lane, 852 Briarlane. Two people shot.”
When Del City police and first responders arrived at the scene, they found three people injured from an apparent drive-by shooting. One of the bullets killed Hooks.
911 Dispatcher: “OK, who shot him?
Caller: “We don’t know ma’am.”
911 Dispatcher: “OK was he shot in the house?”
Caller: “No, he was outside.”
A neighbor spoke to News 9 shortly after the shooting. Emanuel Jackson said he had a bad feeling when he saw a suspicious dark-colored SUV drive through the neighborhood.
“That’s the reason why I should have told them kids to get off that truck and go back in the house,” said Emanual Jackson, witness. “Because it’s not safe.”
Jackson knew the teen who died since he was a child and called him Gigi.
“Good kid,” said Jackson. “They good kids. I watched him grow up, small all the way up.”
But he suspected the deadly shooting had something to do with rival gangs and said it was not the first time the home had been targeted.
“It’s been a bunch of them but the same people,” said Jackson. “A color. A blue and a red color. What the hell? It’s not worth no life.”
Police confirmed they are looking for a dark-colored SUV with a large dent on the front left fender.
