A Muskogee boy is safe and back with his father after police say his mother picked him up after school on Monday triggering an Amber alert.

Tamicah Simpson does not have custody of her 8-year-old son and court records show this is not the first time she has tried to kidnap little Jaiden.

The mother Tamicah Simpson is now in custody, after Comanche County Deputies found her car in Lawton today, more than three hours away from Muskogee.

This is not the first time Simpson has tried to take her children without permission. Court Records from Wagoner County show Simpson tried to pick Jaiden and his sister up from school in Coweta, back in October.

Since she does not have custody, the children's father filed a protective order against Simpson. Muskogee Police say yesterday Simpson called Hilldale schools multiple times to pick Jaiden and his sister up from school.

The school told Simpson no and that is when officers say she went to the bus stop and told Jaiden to get in her car and he did. Officers then got a call from Jaiden's dad a little after 5 p.m. Monday.

"As the night progressed, night-shift investigators were looking for more information. At that time, we only had a missing person's report with the little boy, and the description of the vehicle," Officer Lynn Hamlin explained.

Police say they requested an amber alert because they discovered Jaiden has a medical condition that requires constant treatment. Therefore, officers believed Jaiden was in danger. “When investigators came in this morning, we were already receiving phone calls from the FBI, national missing and exploited children, the marshals —everyone offering their assistance to find this child," Hamlin said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued a state-wide amber alert around 4 a.m. this morning. OHP told News on 6 “The amber alert this morning met the criteria of the child being in imminent danger because the child had a medical condition that required daily treatment.” Hamlin says the Amber Alert process does take time to get the right information out to the public.

"Anytime a child is missing and not in the of hands of the parent or custodian they should be with, there’s urgency and that's just because a child can’t take care of themselves. So, we want to make sure that there with a safe person that’s able to take care of the child and has their best interest," Hamlin explained.

Simpson took Jaiden from Muskogee all the way to Lawton, where Comanche County deputies spotted her car and took Simpson into custody. Police say Jaiden is now safe with his father.

"[The father] will be happy to get [Jaiden] back in his arms and get him back home where he belongs," Hamlin said.

Tamicah Simpson has been charged last year with kidnapping her kids from another school. Police say Simpson will be brought back to Muskogee to face charges.
