A Skiatook animal rescue needs some help as they face mounting vet bills trying to save several litters of dogs.

Skiatook Paws and Claws said they can’t take in any more animals.

Two of their nine-week-old puppies are in quarantine, but on the road to recovery. The two puppies are part of an entire litter diagnosed with Parvo, a potentially life-threatening virus in dogs.

Paige Bodden is the rescue’s president, and said they’ve seen a lot of the virus in recent weeks.

“The past like, seven litters of puppies, not just single puppies, but litters, have all broken with Parvo,” said Bodden.

Bodden said they’ve worked with several vet partners to save the animals, but the bills are piling up.

“Parvo treatment for a puppy, a single puppy, on the good end, can be anywhere from $500 to $800 on the positive side,” said Bodden. “But we’ve spent up to $6,000 on a puppy to save it.”

Bodden said because of their debt, the board has decided to implement an indefinite intake hold, until they get it squared away.

“We have so many great vet partners that work with us and they have the same heart that we do and they don’t get pushy for money or anything like that, but we have to be fair to them,” said Bodden.

The organization is entirely a non-profit, so they’re now asking for donations from the community.

Bodden said since this is a busy time of year for them and the need is great, they hope to be rescuing dogs and cats again as soon as possible.

To donate, you can pay directly to the accounts of their vet partners at Family Animal Medicine - Owasso, Hammond Animal Hospital, SAHO Owasso Animal Hospital, SAHO Skiatook Animal Hospital, Catoosa Small Animal Hospital, Woodland West Animal Hospital and Madison Vet Clinic.

You can also pay through Venmo: @SPACAR, code 3781.
