TULSA, Okla. -

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Health Service is holding a mass vaccination event open to the public at the River Spirit Expo Center on Friday.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and will be open until 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. This is the nation's second mass vaccination event in the last month at the Expo Center but it has had several other vaccination events at its clinics as well.

The event is by appointment or drive-up for anyone who needs a first or second dose, but only the Moderna vaccine will be administered due to the easier ability to transport and store it in the field. Several lanes will be open for people to drive through on the north side of the building and signage will show where to go upon arrival.

For those receiving a second dose, they ask you to bring your vaccination card with you. Muscogee (Creek) Nation Health Chief Performance Office Shoneen Alexander Ross said they are so proud to be able to keep vaccinating thousands of Oklahomans.

“It’s important to us to make the vaccine available and easily accessible to those that want it,” Ross said. “We feel like the more individuals that get vaccinated it will help us return to some form of normalcy so we are really striving for that.”

She said they plan on vaccinating more than 3,000 people just Friday alone but will have plenty of drive-through lanes open to get people in and out quickly.
