Authorities Order Release Of Man Connected To NW OKC Homicide

A 33-year-old man was released from custody after he was arrested in connection with a northwest Oklahoma City homicide.

A 33-year-old man was released from custody after he was arrested in connection with a northwest Oklahoma City homicide.

Oklahoma County district attorney David Prater confirmed to News 9 Thursday that he asked for the release of Rodrick Liggens.

Prater said Liggens was "exercising his right to defend himself" and was "lawfully carrying a weapon."

The homicide happened a residence just after 5 a.m. Sunday near Northwest 29th Street and North Independence Avenue.

Authorities said they don't yet have the identity of the person who initiated the gunfight.

Prater said Liggens will not be charged.
