NEW LIMA, Okla. -

A heartbroken family held a vigil to honor an 82-year-old woman found dead in Seminole County.

Ruth Louie has been missing since early February. She was found on March 25 by a family member.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed Louie’s identity last week.

Family members and other community members gathered for the vigil.

“It was family coming together in prayer,” said Marvin Battle, Louie’s grandson. “It was also giving the community a change to come pay their respects too.”

For weeks, family scoured land as sheriff deputies used drones to help in the search.

Louie’s body was found by family, north of her property. They believe foul play is a factor.

“My cousin saw her from the road as he was driving by, he knew automatically it was her,” said Battle. “These dogs are trained to smell miles away depending on the wind speeds. I don’t believe this was an accident. I believe she was placed there and was found.”

Louie was known to the community as she was always seen walking.

OSBI agents identified and questioned a man believed to be involved. That man has since been cleared of involvement in the case.

“My heart dropped, and I had a family member call me. He was hysterical on the phone,” said Battle. “I rushed as soon as I could to get to the scene.”

With Louie now laid to rest, family is shifting their focus to what’s next and that’s finding who’s responsible.

“I know it’s still on your heart, It’s got to be eating at you,” said Battle. “Just come forward and just say something. If there is somebody else that knows what happened, just please come forward and say something.”

Family has started a Justice For Ruth Louie page on Facebook.
