Veteran Salute: John Ruzycki

We are honoring the men and women who served our country.

On April 9, we want to salute Army veteran John Ruzycki.

John served more than 550 days of active duty with the Thunderbirds during World War II.

His tour took him across Europe from Italy to France to Germany, where his group liberated a prison camp.

He was even taken prisoner for three days in Germany but escaped.

After the war, he met his wife of 57 years and settled down to raise his kids and cows in Jones.

His family thinks the world of him.
