A 15-year-old is behind bars after a shooting killed one person in northwest Oklahoma City.
Police said it happened after 6 a.m. Friday near NW 28th and Woodward.
When officers arrived, they found 51-year-old Rodney Branch shot.
"He ended up being transported to OU Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries," Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Investigators said Branch was riding his bicycle in the area when he came across the 15-year-old suspect.
They think the two got into some type of an argument which led to Branch getting shot.
However, as detectives were piecing together the evidence, they were informed of a second shooting call.
"As it turns out, less than an hour later, police responded to an accidental shooting about six or seven blocks away," said Knight.
When police got to NW 34th and Drexel, they found out it was the 15-year-old suspect who had accidentally shot himself.
Knight said he was treated for his injuries and later booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint first-degree murder.
"Detectives are still unclear to what motivated the homicide, what led up to the altercation," Knight said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the case to call the homicide tip line at 405-297-1200.
