In Moore police continue to investigate after the bodies of a father and son were discovered at a home last Friday.
While neighbors claimed to have heard rumors of a murder-suicide, that's something police are not willing to confirm.
“I think it would be imprudent to categorize it as a murder suicide, there's a lot of questions here,” said Moore Police Lt. Kyle Hill.
Police responded to the home Friday afternoon after a call for help.
“A female caller indicated that family member had committed suicide in the backyard,” said Hill.
“When I came out there was at least four cop cars right around this corner,” said neighbor Brandon Bowen.
According to a 911 call, Brian Higgins, 31, shot himself in his backyard. His father Burl Higgins, 72, the owner of the home, was found dead inside.
“They were hugging each other, and they looked very sad, so we knew something happened,” said Bowen.
And while police said it appeared Brian died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, they aren't sure what caused his father's death.
“Regardless of the circumstances and the way these two men left the earth today, I think it’s important to recognize that there are family members here that are hurting,” said Hill.
Neighbors said aside from a number of cars and debris scattered across the yard, the two men were rarely seen and for the most part kept to themselves.
“Not expecting it, I mean most people you see everybody and wave and never any issues,” said Bowen.
Police said they are waiting on the medical examiner’s report to determine Burl's cause of death.
