Police are asking for help finding the men responsible for stealing a trailer from a church in Verdigris.

Those men were caught on surveillance video taking the trailer from the parking lot at First Baptist Church of Verdigris.

Video shows three men drive up in this SUV during the winter weather last month and two of the men quickly hitch the church's trailer to the truck. Then, as they're trying to drive away, their vehicle gets stuck in the snow.

"There's three of us in the security room, and we're kind of laughing at them, their tires are spinning," First Baptist Church of Verdigris Associate Pastor Tyler Eggleston said.

You can see the SUV sliding to the left as it struggles to find traction. One of the men gets out to try and push it forward, but it's still stuck. Finally, the thieves break free of the slush and get away with the stolen trailer which has the church's name in bold, blue letters on the side.

"We use it for community events, if we're ever a part of that, or we take it to youth camp, kids camp," Eggleston said.

It's why Associate Pastor Tyler Eggleston said they're asking those who stole it, to bring it back.

Verdigris Police Assistant Chief Darrin Hester said they were driving a dark Chevy Tahoe.

"It had its tag removed off the vehicle, so we were unable to get a tag off the vehicle, there's not a lot of markings on it," Hester said.

Hester also says because of the SUV'S inability to get through the snow, it appears to have two-wheel drive. He said those responsible should give the trailer back.

"You're taking from a church that does a lot for our community, our schools, when we need to help people that's one of our resources that we utilize, our churches in the area. Whether it's to put food out for people, or to check on people, our churches are very involved," Hester said.

If you have any information about this theft, call the Verdigris Police Department at 918-266-0200.
