It is no secret, some of the most talented kids in the nation are in Oklahoma City. Some of that talent will be on display this Saturday at the Poetry and Chill OKC, virtual talent show.
Izzy Harmon, 12, was runner-up in last year's talent show, and this year, she’s shooting for the top spot.
"I really, I enjoy music in general and I feel like it’s a way to express myself and I feel like it’s gonna be really fun," Izzy said.
As Izzy prepares, the other acts are stepping up to challenge as well. This year features dances teams, singers, rappers, poetry, and a host of others ready to show off their talent for this virtual event.
Trey Whiles has worked behind the scenes as the videographer for the events and said the talent is great, but behind the scenes is where the real action is.
"I capture all the behind-the-scenes film, I make a recap for the video for the tour, and we've been going to each state going to the colleges," he said.
So, this is a big event featuring kids from ages 2 to 19. This year, the group has partnered with Arvest Bank, offering some pretty big prizes.
"First place winner is gonna be $1,500 and it’s partnered up with Arvest Bank. They’re basically gonna be able to invest in any stock of their choice. Then second place is gonna be $1,000. The third-place winner is getting like a back drop, a lighting, basically to do home music videos, TikTok videos to elevate their career," organizer Gregory II said.
In addition, Arvest is also offering free Zoom classes on investing and every participant will receive a prize.
The talent show can be viewed on the Poetry and Chill OKC Facebook or Instagram pages from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. It will remain on their platforms to be viewed later in case you can't catch it live.
