Buildings Across OKC Dealing With Low Water Pressure

The Oklahoma County Detention Center says they're seeing issues with water pressure and it most likely won't return to normal for the next couple of days.

In the meantime, they're providing bottled water for inmates, and barrels and buckets of water on each floor so they can manually flush the toilets.

They're just one of multiple buildings downtown and across the city experiencing these issues. At last check with the city, there have been 31 main breaks in the last three days due to the cold temperatures and hundreds of service calls for frozen pipes.

One of the biggest problem areas is a water booster station out of service.

The city says customers from Wilshire to Northwest 10th Street and Sara Road to Portland Avenue are seeing some of the lowest water pressure in OKC.

All frustrated residents want to know is when the water will return to normal.

“They’re dealing with a lot of issues in a lot of areas. I think there are ways that we could get help maybe from some other areas,” said Mary Bormann who has low water pressure.

The city says repairs are taking some time due to ice and snow covering the valves.
